AS 3952:2002 pdf download.Water supply—Spring hydrant valve for waterworks purposes.
1.3.7 Coating defect
A detectable weakness or discontinuity in a coating, which is deemed to he suspect in its ability to protect the substrate from
corrosion during its normal service life.
1.3.8 DN (Nominal size)
An alphanumeric designation of size for components of a pipework system, which is used for reference purposes. It comprises the
letters DN followed by a dimensionless whole number, which is indirectly related to the physical size, in millimetres. of the bore or outside diameter of the end connections.
1.3.9 Free end test
A test where the valve is attached vertically to a test rig so that the axial hydraulic force is not externally restrained. This
simulates normal operating conditions.
1.3.10 Maximum working temperature
The maximum permitted temperature (60°C) of the medium being conducted through the valve.
1.3.11 Resilient seat
The seal mechanism between the body and the dome, provided by an clastomeric material, which may be on either of the mating
surfaces or provided as a separate elastomeric gasket.
1.3.12 Type test
A once only set of tests carried out to prove performance.
