3.9 Outlet cover

A protective cover that is required to be connected to each outlet in an outlet system.

3.10 Permanent protective harrier

A lermanent barrier attached to or associated with an alternative skimming device that prevents any part of the body sealing and/or becoming trapped on the device.

3.11 Skimmer box

A fitting attached to or set into the wall of a pool at water level that is used as the main suction point for the filter pump and draws water mainly from the pool surface.

3.12 Swimming pool

Any excavation or structure containing water to a depth greater than 300 mm and used primarily for swimming. wading. paddling or

the like, including a spa pool. Referred to in this Standard as a ‘pool’ or ‘pools’.

4 MATERIALS

4.1 General

Materials used in the inanuticturc and installation ol’ skimmer boxes, alternative skimming devices and outlet covers (components) shall be of a durable nature and capable of fulfilling the needs of the design, installation and intended use.

4.2 Effects olenvironment

The materials for components shall be such that the operational strength of the entire assembly shall not be adversely affected by exposure to rain, snow, ice, sunlight. nornial local temperature extremes, normal local wind variations, expected local air

pollution products, and the mechanical, electrical and chemical environment in and around pools.
